Toronto, January 21, 2015 – Patients Canada, in collaboration with Collective Concerts, announces a benefit concert featuring musician Rufus Wainwright, along with Loudon Wainwright III and Chaim Tannenbaum.
The show honours Canadian folk musician Kate McGarrigle, Rufus’ late mother and our founding Patron. Kate’s experience during her final illness inspired her support of the fledgling Patients Canada, founded by her friend, Sholom Glouberman. She was adamant that Patients Canada not only address areas for improvement in Canada’s healthcare system, but that Patients Canada recognizes excellent care. She was a great supporter of our first project which continues today, the Patients’ Choice Awards, in which patients have the opportunity to recognize doctors who they feel are exceptional, and a patient jury selects the winners.
Proceeds from this benefit concert will allow Patients Canada to continue its work fostering collaboration between patients, caregivers and the healthcare community. In the vein of Kate’s original wishes, we look forward to having more and more reasons to celebrate excellent care.
Where: Queen Elizabeth Theatre, 190 Princes’ Boulevard, Toronto, ON
When: Friday, February 6th. Doors open at 7:00PM
